Chelsea set to hijack Manchester United target who is on free transfer this summer.

According to reports Chelsea could trump Manchester United to the signing of soon-to-be free agent Sergio Ramos this summer.

The 35-year-old is one of the finest defenders of his generation if not one of the most successful.

It will bring to a close what was an extremely successful 16-year spell with the club.

With Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Manchester City all in the fray, the Spaniard is not short of suitors. It is fair to say that despite his advanced age, Ramos remains a wanted player.

Thomas Tuchel is keen to bring in Ramos to partner Antonio Rudiger in the Chelsea defence. The German has transformed the Stamford Bridge outfit’s fortunes, leading them to the Champions League title.

The Spaniard for his part is open to a move to Chelsea. However, he will consider his options before making a decision this summer.

As things stand, PSG looks to be his preferred option as he targets playing alongside Brazilian superstar Neymar.

It would appear that a Real Madrid reunion could very well be on the cards inParis. Ramos will not just reunite with Angel Di Maria and Keylor Navas but also Cristiano Ronaldo potentially.

Moreover, Ramos is also tempted by the lifestyle in Paris and believes his wife and children would feel most settled in the French capital.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is well aware that he needs reinforcements in order to challenge for the Premier League title next season.

One position that needs reinforcements is the defence and Ramos could prove to be a shrewd addition. However, it would appear that it is easier said than done.
