Chelsea transfer chief Marina Granovskaia has three-man midfielder wishlist.
Chelsea transfer chief Marina Granovskaia is working overtime this summer to secure Thomas Tuchel his top signings.
One area of concern is in midfield and the Blues have narrowed their search to three options.
Chelsea boss Tuchel is keen on bolstering his options in midfield with Billy Gilmour leaving on loan for Norwich this summer.
That leaves N’Golo Kante, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic as the only central midfielders considered first-team material – a decent crop but problematic should injuries take their toll.
And with the Blues set to take part in a number of competitions, Tuchel needs more options as he looks to rotate his team regularly.
It has led to three midfielders being explored by the club’s transfer chiefs with Granovskaia eyeing a number of players.
According to Football London, the main priority remains West Ham star Declan Rice.
But prising him away from the Hammers will prove difficult for a number of reasons, especially after Euro 2020.
With the Englishman being a regular under Gareth Southgate for the Three Lions, his price will surely skyrocket if England beat Italy tonight.
West Ham have already valued Rice at £100m – an astronomical figure – while Manchester United are also interested in the 22-year-old.
The second top target is Eduardo Camavinga of Rennes, who is also attracting attention from the Red Devils.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to sign the 18-year-old when a deal is wrapped up for Jadon Sancho.
But Chelsea chief Petr Cech, who has close ties to Rennes and several of the club’s officials, is ready to aid Granovskaia in talks for the Frenchman.
Camavinga could be available for as little as £25m with one year left on his contract, while the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are also interested.
And the third is Marseille star Boubacar Kamara, a highly-rated talent from Ligue 1 who has been tipped for stardom in the near future.
The 21-year-old is a defensive midfielder by trade but can play at centre-back too while the French club could sell him for a bargain £15m amid a crisis in Ligue 1.
