According to UOL, Tottenham are now close to signing Richarlison from Premier League rivals Everton, despite interest from Arsenal.
The story
Well, this is big news for Tottenham fans, but Everton supporters won’t be pleased.
UOL believe Spurs and the Toffees are locked in advanced negotiations, with a €60m (£51m) fee agreed.
In fact, the Brazilian news outlet add that talks are so far down the line, Richarlison is even in the process of discussing personal terms with Tottenham.
UOL add that the 25-year-old is also a target for Manchester United.
Interestingly, the news comes after Goal claimed that Arsenal had held talks with Richarlison, and were awaiting the Brazil international’s decision.
Clearly, it seems he has decided to swap Merseyside for north London, but not to join the Gunners.
In our view, Richarlison’s decision may have come down to the fact Tottenham are competing in the Champions League next season, whereas Mikel Arteta failed to guide Arsenal to qualification.
Arsenal are the least of Tottenham’s worries when it comes to getting the Richarlison deal over the line.
It has been said that Paris Saint-German, Real Madrid and Chelsea are also keen on signing the South American, and he’s interested in joining any of the three European giants.
Therefore, Antonio Conte should hope that none of them submit a late bid for the Everton No.7 – if they match Tottenham’s £51m bid, who knows what Richarlison could do.
He has become good friends with Neymar during his time with Brazil, so a move to Paris may be attractive.
Furthermore, few players willingly turn down a move to Real Madrid, so the European champions will be a huge threat if they make an offer.
While things are advanced between Tottenham and Richarlison, there is still a long way to go until Conte gets his hands on the Brazilian.
