Ajax Player ‘determined’ to join Man United and reunite with Erik ten Hag

Man United have been handed a boost in pursuit of Ajax winger Antony.

It has been a pretty lacklustre start to the transfer window for Manchester United, who are yet to make any signings this summer.

The Old Trafford club have been linked with what feels like every name under the sun at this point, without any incoming looking imminent.

As you’d expect, Ajax players seem to be pretty common transfer stories in regards to United. Obviously due to the Erik ten Hag connection.

Winger Antony is amongst those names rumoured to be under serious consideration by Ten Hag.

Now, we’ve been given a pretty big update in regards to Antony and it comes from James Robson, writing for Goal. Apparently, the 22-year-old is ‘determined’ to join United, so he can reunite with Ten Hag.

Thus far, informal discussions have taken place between United and Ajax, though as of yet no official offer has been made.

Understandably, Ten Hag wants to bolster an attack that has lost Edinson Cavani and Jesse Lingard this summer, while Mason Greenwood remains unavailable for obvious reasons.

Antony contributed directly to 22 goals for Ajax last term, helping his side towards the Eredivisie title along the way.

After missing out on Darwin Nunez to Liverpool, Antony feels like United’s main target in the final third of the field. There’s no doubt the familiarity he has with Ten Hag will definitely speed up the settling-in process, too.

Outside of Jadon Sancho, United’s wingers have struggled for any sort of consistency.

I have to be honest, faith in both Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial is wavering, so the addition of a flair player like Antony could certainly help out.
