Arsenal are set to be one of the Premier League’s busiest clubs this summer as they prepare for the return of European football to the Emirates.
Despite being pipped to the Champions League by Tottenham there was plenty for Arsenal fans to be excited about last season and the break could be equally as riveting.
Last season saw Mikel Arteta splash over £140 million on new recruits and we could see a similar outlay this time around.
With that in mind, football.london takes you through the latest news and transfer rumours from Arsenal including the latest on Gabriel Jesus, Raphinha and some departures.
Arsenal ‘very close’ to Raphinha deal
Despite clinching Premier League survival on the season’s final day, Leeds are expected to lose star man Raphinha this summer. Arsenal are among the sides chasing his signature.
According to Goal of Brazil, the Gunners are ‘very close’ to signing the Brazilian, who has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona this year.
However, their report claims that the 25-year-old doesn’t want to continue waiting for the Blaugrana to make a move and the player is said to be hoping to complete a move to Arteta’s side within the week.
Gabriel Jesus deal to be ‘pushed through’
Arsenal’s pursuit of Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus is intensifying with each day as Arteta looks to add the Premier League champion to his squad for the new season.
Chelsea have also been reported as being interested in Jesus, although Arsenal appears to be his preferred destination.
But the player’s representatives are not resting on their laurels and, according to a report from GOAL, are set to fly to London imminently to push through the deal.
While the focus at the Emirates will largely be on those coming into the club, there will still be a number of names departing as well. Alexandre Lacazette has already confirmed his exit while the likes of Bernd Leno and Gabriel Magalhaes have also been linked with transfers.
On Monday, the Gunners confirmed two loan departures from their development squads. Defender Harry Clarke will drop into the Championship for a spell with Stoke City, while Omar Rekik is set to join Sparta Rotterdam for the season.
