‘Best young kid since Giggs’: Bryan Robson names one thing Mason Greenwood needs to learn

“Mason [Greenwood] is the best young kid I’ve seen since Giggsy,” Man United legend Bryan Robson told FourFourTwo.

“He has got great balance, pace and a good physique. He is only going to get stronger.

“He is a bit of a finisher like Ian Rush, as he can hit the ball with so much power despite having such little backlift – I love that he can it with both feet.

“Mason could learn from Edinson Cavani’s movement around the box,” Robson continued.

“Then when he gets central he’ll have cleverer runs to get across people and can score a few more headers.

“All Mason has to do is keep his feet on the ground, keep working hard and he is going to be a top player.

“He has been one of Manchester United’s best players so far this season. In time, I see him more as a centre-forward. He will have more power in a couple of years.”

Greenwood started the season brightly, scoring three goals in three August games. Since then, however, he’s only found the net once, and his goalscoring drought coincides with the team’s slump.

Still, he’s just turned 20 years old, and ups and downs are only natural at this age. Greenwood should have a long career ahead of him and, hopefully, Man United will benefit from its best years that are yet to come
