Chelsea ‘favourite’ to complete £100m transfer ahead of Man City as Star wants to leave current club

Chelsea are reportedly amongst the favourites to sign Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish this summer.

The Blues have been apparent admirers for a while, with Thomas Tuchel seemingly keen to spend big on his team despite Chelsea’s UEFA Champions League victory last season.

They are set to face competition though, with Manchester City and Manchester United have also been strongly linked in the past.

However, the Blues appear to have moved ahead of the pack as per reports in the Spanish media.

According to Fichajes, Chelsea are “favourites” to sign him this summer having fully recovered from the knee injury that kept him out of action for large swaths of the previous campaign.

He still had a very productive season despite that though having racked up seven goals and ten assists in all competitions for Aston Villa.

That form has seen him earn a place in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the Euros and he will certainly hope to have had enough of an impact to start against Croatia at Wembley Stadium this afternoon.

The 25-year-old is rated at £58.5m by transfermarkt but it is expected that Villa would ask for much more for their star player.

With the Mirror reporting that Villa had whacked a £100million price tag on the England man’s shoulders.

Grealish is also under contract for another four years until 2025 having only penned a new deal in September of last year.

That would certainly mean that Dean Smith’s men are under no pressure to sell this summer but the news that Chelsea are now the favourites will of course be a big boost to the Blues’ chances of securing him at some point in the future.

Chelsea receive boost in pursuit of Kingsley Coman

According to transfer news from Sky Germany and RMC Sport (h/t Daily Star), Chelsea have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Kinglsey Coman, as he wants to leave Bayern Munich this summer.

Coman came through the youth ranks at PSG but made his name with Juventus, whom he joined in 2014 on a free transfer.

A year later he was snapped up by Bayern Munich, initially on a two-year loan deal before the transfer was made permanent in 2017.

While he did not make an explosive start to life in Bavaria, the Frenchman has gradually grown into a crucial player for the Rekordmeister. Till date, he has made 200 appearances for Bayern, scoring 41 goals and setting up 50 more.

The 2020/21 campaign was perhaps his most productive one as he finished with 8 goals and 15 assists in 39 games. (h/t Transfermarkt).

Coman is contracted with Bayern Munich till 2023 but the German champions have decided to stall negotiations over a new contract due to his massive wage demands.

This development has alerted Chelsea, who are now keeping close tabs on the situation, along with Manchester United. (h/t Football.london)

And, it may be that Chelsea have received a boost in their potential pursuit of Coman as the 25-year-old French international has now decided to leave Bayern Munich. (h/t Daily Star)
