Chelsea plan mass exodus with N’Golo Kante among 12 facing the chop in summer window

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has a number of decisions to make this summer with up to 12 players reportedly on their way out of the club.

The Blues are still celebrating their new-found status as World Champions following their victory at the Club World Cup.

Kai Havertz scored the winning penalty in what proved to be a close encounter with Palmeiras.

It’s the third trophy Thomas Tuchel has won in his short spell as Chelsea boss and Roman Abramovich looks set to back his manager once again in the summer.

According to the Telegraph, Tuchel will be given funds to improve his current squad.

Jules Kounde is said to be a ‘priority target’ while another central defender may also be bought.

But while incomings are expected, the report indicates that a host of players could be on their way out.

No developments have been made in discussions with Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta regarding their contracts which expire in the summer.

The latter two are being strongly linked with moves to Barcelona while Rudiger is attracting interest from a number of clubs all over Europe.

The report goes on to add that Chelsea will ‘listen to any offers’ for Kepa Arrizabalaga, Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Kepa wants regular football and looks set to be given the green light to find another club.

Loftus-Cheek enjoyed a spell in the starting line-up in December, but he hasn’t featured in the Premier League since while Barkley has only played five top-flight matches all season.

There are also said to be ‘doubts over the futures’ of Christian Pulisic, Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech.

It is claimed that Werner will attract interest from clubs in Germany with the forward still struggling to discover his best form in west London.

Ziyech and Pulisic have also played bit-part roles for Tuchel’s side since the German head coach’s arrival last year.

And the club will reportedly ‘think about the futures’ of N’Golo Kante, Jorginho and Marcos Alonso with their contracts set to expire in 2023.

Kante has endured another injury-ravaged campaign with the 30-year-old starting just 11 Premier League matches.

Jorginho is a regular feature in midfield for Chelsea, but he has regularly been linked with a move back to Italy.

Alonso has been called upon to step in for Ben Chilwell this season, but there are suggestions a replacement for the Spaniard will be signed this summer meaning he could be heading for a move away.
