Chelsea are reportedly preparing a “big offer” for Erling Haaland as they prepare to test Borussia Dortmund’s resolve.
The Norwegian frontman is Thomas Tuchel’s top target this summer and now the Blues are ready to try and make the deal happen.
It won’t be easy though, particularly given Dortmund have always been clear they want to keep the player for another season.
That has been made even more complicated by the departure of teammate Jadon Sancho, who is heading to Manchester United.
Dortmund do not want to lose both in the same summer and with Sancho now already outbound, they will do everything within their power to keep Haaland.
Now according to Jan Agee Fjortoft, Chelsea are ready to make their move and are preparing a big offer.
It’s believed that it will take a proposal in the region of £150million to twist Dortmund’s arm.
It’s unclear whether Chelsea have the money to pay that or whether they are prepared to do so but the Blues need to sign a striker this summer.
Despite winning the Champions League, there is still a place for an out-and-out No 9 in attack at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea thought that was Timo Werner but he endured a mixed campaign following his arrival from RB Leipzig.
Not only that but Tuchel appears to favour letting him operate from the left-side of attack.
Haaland remains Chelsea’s first-choice target and they will have a clear run on the 20-year-old if they wish.
Manchester United appear to have cooled their interest after Edinson Cavani signed a one-year contract extension.
Meanwhile, Manchester City would prefer a move to sign Harry Kane.
They are expected to launch a bid for the England captain now the European Championships have been completed.
