Cristiano Ronaldo insists he’s ‘back where he belongs’ after the forward sealed a sensational return to Manchester United.
The 36-year-old rejoined the Red Devils on the final day of the summer transfer window to complete a stunning return to Old Trafford.
Manchester City had been keen on signing the striker but United hijacked the deal through fear that the club legend would join the Red Devils’ arch rivals.
Ronaldo hopes to make his second debut for the club against Newcastle United on Saturday and the former Real Madrid man says he’s now back home following his return to the club.
Taking to Instagram, Ronaldo officially announced the fact he had been given the no.7 shirt at Old Trafford which he wore for the duration of his first stint at the Theatre of Dreams.
Ronaldo wrote: ‘7 is the magic number’ along with a picture caption of ‘I’m back where I belong, my never ending love’.
Edinson Cavani gave up the no.7 shirt in order for Ronaldo to be reunited with the iconic shirt.
The Uruguayan took the no.21 shirt vacated by Daniel James following his move to Leeds United.
Cavani wears the same number for Uruguay and United will be hoping the veteran striker can inspire the club to their 21st league title this term.
