Ronaldo comes close to tears as Portugal forced to play World Cup play-offs

Cristiano Ronaldo was left distraught after watching his Portugal side fail to guarantee automatic qualification to the 2022 FIFA World Cup on Sunday.

Serbia pulled off a stunning 2-1 win over Portugal to qualify for next year’s tournament by winning their group.

Ronaldo was spotted nearly close to tears as he sat down in the group after full-time looking absolutely gutted.

Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot were on the bench in the loss, with the midfielder only being brought on in the second half.

Portugal will now have to play the World Cup playoffs in March and win 3 games to attain qualification into next year’s competition.
