David de Gea makes prediction about Manchester United future after Dean Henderson battle

David De Gea celebrates.
David de Gea has admitted that he wants to spend many ‘more years’ at Manchester United.

Dean Henderson and De Gea battled for the No.1 spot at United last season with the Spaniard struggling for confidence and form. However, Henderson contracted covid-19 in July and he was subsequently sidelined for a lengthy spell as recovered.

De Gea then started the season as United’s No.1 by default and has since rediscovered top form to make the position his own.

The 31-year-old has delivered outstanding performances this term and is arguably their player of the season so far.

The goalkeeping dilemma at the club now looks irrelevant and De Gea is hoping for that to continue, as he explained United’s in-house media.

“It’s been a long time [at United] but, hopefully, there are more years to come and more trophies to come,” De Gea said.

“More good moments to live. So what can I say? I’m massively proud of what I did for this club and to play for this badge.

“It’s amazing. I feel maybe in one of the best shapes of my career. I feel very well. Maybe some people think I’m older because I’ve been in the game for many, many years but I am still young for a goalkeeper. I’m still learning every day, giving 100 per cent in training.

“I’ve been here for good moments and bad moments. You have to put your face out there in the good and bad moments. I’ve been here a long time, I am one of the most experienced players here.

“In bad moments, I feel I have to be here to show we are here, we are together, we are a team and to try to help the young lads and the people here, to make us stronger
