Erling Haaland ‘keen to join Chelsea because of two factors’ as details of bid emerge

Erling Haaland is keen to join Chelsea because of the club’s stature and financial might, it has been claimed.

The Borussia Dortmund striker scored 40 goals across all competitions last term. And both Roman Abramovich and Thomas Tuchel are determined to bring him to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are in the mix for a new striker.

They’ve already sold Olivier Giroud to AC Milan, while Tammy Abraham is expected to depart amid interest from Arsenal and West Ham.

Chelsea are interested in Romelu Lukaku, while Harry Kane is also under consideration.

But Haaland is their top target and, now, reliable Chelsea outlet CFCNewsPage have delivered an update on the situation.

It’s claimed that Haaland is open to moving to Stamford Bridge because he and his entourage feel Chelsea can be a ‘significant step’ in improving the striker’s game.

After netting 40 goals last term, that’ll take some doing.

But Haaland is keen to evolve and, though Real Madrid, Manchester United and Barcelona are all admirers as well, it appears he believes he can do that at Stamford Bridge.

He’s said to be impressed at the amount of chances Chelsea create every game.

And it’s claimed he’s excited about the financial package the Blues are willing to offer him, with Abramovich ready to triple his current salary.

At present, the 21-year-old earns £100,000-a-week in Germany.

But Chelsea are ready to give him £300,000-a-week to entice him to west London in the hope he’ll accept and be part of their squad for the upcoming campaign.

Abramovich is ready to pay money to the striker’s father, Alf-Inge Haaland, and agent Mino Raiola too using his own cash.

And while Chelsea are willing to offer a fee of £130million for Haaland, they also have plans should their bid be rebuffed.

If that happens, the Blues will supposedly go back in with a second offer that will be £130m plus £20m in add-ons and bonuses.

The extra £20m would be made up of four instalments for winning the Premier League, winning the Champions League, a fixed number of appearances and a fixed number of goals scored.

To top it off, Chelsea are confident they’ll get Haaland in the door this summer.

And whether that actually happens is something only time will tell.

This claim has been backed up by Sky Sports journalist Angelo Mangiante, who responded to the post with lots of clapping emojis.

Meanwhile, former Blues star Emmanuel Petit recently had his say on Haaland.

And he claimed his old side should do everything possible to acquire the Dortmund star, saying: “I’ll keep it simple.

“Olivier Giroud is on his way out of Chelsea, Tammy Abraham is probably leaving on loan, and Timo Werner is still struggling to score goals consistently and Kai Havertz is not a striker.

“Chelsea need a new striker and someone who scores lots of goals. Erling Haaland is the answer.

“He’s strong, powerful and young with a bright future in front of him.

“Haaland’s value is already very high, and connections with Tuchel increase his chance of joining Chelsea.

“Offensively, he could become the finisher that Chelsea really need. “I can imagine his relationship with [Mason] Mount, Havertz, [Christian] Pulisic and [Hakim] Ziyech making him score lots of goals at Stamford Bridge.

“Chelsea need a top striker, it’s as simple as that.”
