‘Haaland is replacing Giroud’ – Chelsea fans excited for £138m transfer amid talk of medical

Chelsea fans have a transfer theory that involves Olivier Giroud and Erling Haaland.

In April, as revealed by club director Marina Granovskaia, the Blues activated a clause to extend the Frenchman’s contract by a further year. Although, it turns out it was a tactic to receive a transfer fee.

After joining Chelsea from London rivals Arsenal in the 2018 January transfer window, it’s looking like Giroud ‘s time in the capital – and the Premier League – will soon be over.

If reports in Italy are to be believed then his exit from Stamford Bridge could be confirmed as early as next week.

That is because it has been claimed that Giroud is set to undergo a medical with AC Milan on Monday.

Furthermore, it is understood that the striker will sign a two-year deal with the Rossoneri after they finally reached an agreement with the Blues regarding a transfer fee.

The report also states that Chelsea have accepted €1m (£859k) plus another €1m (£859k) in rather difficult to complete performance-related bonuses, meaning the overall deal could reach £1.7m.

Despite Giroud not being a regular under Thomas Tuchel last season, his imminent exit would leave the German tactician short of a centre-forward for the new campaign.

As a result, some Chelsea fans have the perfect replacement in mind with many calling for a £138m summer deal to be completed for Haaland.

@CFC_Eire said: “We’re getting €1m for Giroud when he was going for free, Marina masterclass. That will pay for 2 weeks of Haaland’s wage, fantastic business.”

@Puka_Tee said: “Giroud leaving means Haaland is coming Thank you Giroud for everything.”

@Chelseafann9 said: “Another 2m in the bank. 7.5m/yr off the wage bill. Tammy can be a 2nd striker. We have Havertz and Werner as well. Yes, Giroud brought us something different but it’s time to move forward. Common Chelsea.

“Let’s sign Haaland.”
