‘He has never dealt with that before’: Danny Murphy names 2 biggest obstacles Rangnick has to overcome

Speaking on talkSPORT radio, former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy said: “I think Ralf Rangnick has got a few hurdles that he is going to have to jump. The first one is the scrutiny that he is going to come under when he takes the job — he’s never had that any other club before.

“Every part of his life in the Premier League will be scrutinised and analysed; everywhere he goes and everything he says will be analysed to within an inch of his life. Whereas in the jobs he has had before he has not had that. Can he deal with that? People say he can.

“Then he is going to have to deal with players of the magnitude of Bruno Fernandes, Cristiano Ronaldo and these types of players. He has never dealt with that before. Now, I am not suggesting that Rangnick can’t do that, but he has only ever won one trophy.”

Rangnick’s last managerial job outside of the RB system (which he created) was ten years ago when the German worked at Bundesliga side Schalke 04.

The 63-year-old appears to be ready for the Manchester United challenge, beating Crystal Palace 1–0 in his first official game in charge at the club
