‘I am certainly ready’: £20m star responds to Man United transfer move talk

While Frenkie de Jong is less than enthused about moving to Manchester United, and Jurrien Timber is keeping his options open, Tyrell Malacia is a lot more forward.

The Feyenoord left-back was first reported by The Mirror to be a target for Manchester United, with De Telegraaf this week also reporting United’s interest.

Malacia is on international duty with Netherlands and he has expressed an interest in a move, when quizzed this week.

The left-back would cost around £20 million, The Mirror report.

Tyrell Malacia says he is ‘ready’

Malacia was questioned on Dutch TV station RTV Rijnmond, reported by Feyenoord outlet fr12.nl.

Asked about interest specifically from Manchester United, among other clubs, Malacia responded: “I am certainly ready for the next step.”

He added: “But first I want to focus on the Orange squad and play here. I feel like everything happens for a reason and everything is written.

“If it’s the right time, it’s the right time. I’m not really thinking about it, it’s in the back of my mind. But I don’t want to comment on it.”

He has already said enough, and just his facial expression in the interview said enough.

Left-back is a position where United could do with strengthening, especially considering Alex Telles’ poor form at the end of last season, and Luke Shaw’s recent battle with injury, which was a repercussion of his old injury against PSV many years ago.

Portuguese newspaper Correia da Manha have reported Porto are interested in bringing back Alex Telles, potentially opening up a spot for Malacia.

Erik ten Hag will be well aware of Malacia’s strengths and weaknesses from the Eredivisie, and will make the final decision over a move.
