Jadon Sancho’s response to Erling Haaland leaves United move open

Jadon Sancho clinched his long awaited move to Manchester United last week.

It was long overdue and Sancho was met with countless messages of congratulations and good luck from figures across the football world.

One notable message was from now ex-Dortmund teammate Erling Haaland.

But even more noteworthy was Sancho’s response. He cryptically said ‘we will soon meet again’ in reply.

Sancho’s message could mean many things, and you can take from it what you want it to.

And considering we would like Erling Haaland as a Manchester United player in 2022, the winger’s message does not exactly discourage the notion.

The ‘soon’ part of the message implies Sancho knows Haaland will be moving on.

And how he could not be, with a bargain release clause clubs are queuing up to pay next summer.

The Mirror report it could be around £60 million. That’s just over a third of the price Dortmund have been telling clubs to pay for him this summer.

Haaland could end up Premier League bound, although that does not mean it will be with United.

Chelsea reportedly hold strong interest, report  The Telegraph, so Sancho could see the striker as an opponent rather than a teammate.

United will consider a move next summer when he is more affordable, and when a striker is needed.

Edinson Cavani staying put for one more year resolved the position and helped nudge United towards doing a deal for Sancho.

There will still be issues, notably Mino Raiola’s involvement, which make a deal difficult for United. But Haaland will likely go to the club he wants to.

And if he wishes to link back up with Sancho at Old Trafford, and former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, then Manchester United will really be in business.
