Manchester United are closing in on the capture of Borussia Dortmund superstar Jadon Sancho, who is set to cost £81.5 million.
According to The Mirror, Manchester United have moved one step closer towards securing the services of Jadon Sancho.
They have apparently agreed personal terms with Borussia Dortmund attacker, although the Bundesliga outfit are persistent on their £81.5 million asking fee for their prized talent.
United were linked with a move for Sancho one year ago, but they were unwilling to meet Dortmund’s £108 million.
Their waiting game, however, saw them miss out on the services of the attacker, although that might change this summer, especially following yet another impressive campaign in the Bundesliga.
Indeed, Sancho has been involved in a total of 20 Bundesliga goals this past season.
After initially making a slow start to the campaign, the winger’s brilliant turnaround under Edin Terzic was a major reason behind Dortmund’s late push for the Champions League finish as well as the triumph in the DFB Pokal.
Borussia Dortmund, though, are now in a precarious position after overseeing a significant loss in the 2020/21 financial year due to the pandemic.
Although the club has the resources to keep hold of both their star players in Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland, they will not stand in the way, should any of them opt to leave the Signal Iduna Park.
Die Schwarzgelben, in fact, have been eyeing potential replacements throughout the summer.
They were recently linked with a move for Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi, although they might face stiff competition from Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich.
The potential sale of Sancho could go a long way in helping them recover from their financial losses this past year.
It will also strengthen the position of Haaland remaining at the Signal Iduna Park next season, as new coach Marco Rose hopes to work his magic on the Norwegian whizkid and indeed the entire Dortmund team.
As for Manchester United, the addition of Sancho should definitely solve Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s problems in the wide attacking department.
The Englishman could be an ideal upgrade over the likes of Daniel James and Anthony Martial, who is a shock target for league rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Over the past 12 months, the Red Devils have been linked with multiple alternatives for Sancho.
But none of them boasted the same profile as the Dortmund winger, who is being touted as the next big thing in English football, alongside the likes of Phil Foden and Mason Mount.
It will be interesting to see how this attacking trio fare for the Three Lions, in the upcoming European championship next week. As things stand, though, it seems like Manchester United could be close to landing their man this summer.
Kieran Trippier start house hunting amid Manchester United transfer interested.
On the back of a fairly disappointing campaign with Tottenham, Kieran Trippier signed for Atletico Madrid in 2019.
The Spaniards are believed to have paid around £20m to bring the Englishman to the Wanda Metropolitano.
The right-back went on to enjoy a solid debut campaign in La Liga, which saw him quickly recalled to the England set-up after he was dropped.
2020/21 was then a superb campaign for Tripper. He would feature 28 times in the league, providing six assists along the way as Atletico Madrid saw off FC Barcelona and Real Madrid to clinch their latest La Liga title.
Tripper, who is 30, still has another two years left on his contract with the Spanish powerhouse.
And given how well things have gone form him in Spain, him returning home in the near future may seem like an odd move.
However, recent reports are claiming that the 27-time capped international could be on his way back to England.
As per a report from the Mirror, citing The Athletic, Manchester United are ready to ramp up their efforts to sign Trippier in the summer transfer window.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to be keen to bring in some competition for Aaron-Wan Bissaka, with Trippier already believed to be house hunting in the UK.
A potential deal could also be fairly cheap, with it claimed it could set Man United back just £10m.
