Man United forward Mason Greenwood reveals what he’s learning from Edinson Cavani

Mason Greenwood is relishing getting a close-up view of Edinson Cavani’s movement at Manchester United.

The 34-year-old striker came off the bench to score United’s third in the 3-1 success against Aston Villa and it was another goal that owed so much to his intelligent movement.

It was Cavani’s eighth goal in seven games for United, darting across goal to head in Marcus Rashford’s pin-point cross. By that time Greenwood was watching from the bench having scored the goal that put United ahead in the Midlands.

That was his seventh goal in 10 games, but the 19-year-old is enjoying the chance to learn from someone of Cavani’s class and experience and he believes every forward at the club is benefitting from the presence of the former Paris St-Germain striker.

“He’s exactly the same as last week, you know what he’s going to do but you can’t seem to stop him,” Greenwood told MUTV.

“He’s still scoring goals, it was exactly the same against Roma. It’s nice to watch there on the bench, to watch his movement when he scores.llllll

“It’s his movement, everyone knows he can do it but they can’t stop it, I’m sure we’re all learning off him, me, Rashy, all the attackers and all the young lads are looking up to him so it’s good to have him there.”

Greenwood’s goal was his 28th in 101 appearances for United and 16 of those have come in the Premier League, making him the top-scoring teenager for United in the competition.

His goal against Villa saw him roll Tyrone Mings in the area before an arrowed left-footed finish and he was pleased with the strike, as well as extending his lead at the top of the record books for United.

“I knew he [Mings] was coming tight so if I get a little move I can get half a yard and I finished it well, so I’m happy with my goal today,” he said.

“Hopefully there’s many more to come, I want to try and keep scoring goals so nobody else comes and breaks the record in the future.”
