Manchester United star Paul Pogba is reportedly “always angry” in the dressing room according to a fellow teammate, who also opened up about drama behind the scenes that is shared with the Frenchman.
Paul Pogba has certainly proved over his career that he isn’t the easiest character to keep happy amongst the dressing room, but it’s been revealed that the star “always gets angry”, according to a Manchester United teammate.
Pogba re-signed for United back in 2016 after originally leaving the club for free back in 2012, but has failed to reach his full potential since returning to Old Trafford.
The Frenchman has been at the centre of an ongoing contract saga with United, and could leave the club for nothing again next summer, with the midfielder reportedly demanding to be paid more than Cristiano Ronaldo to re-sign.
If the star was to leave, it would remove a big character from the dressing room, who is reportedly always angry.
United recently conducted a fan Q&A with fellow midfield star Nemanja Matic, who was asked about the funniest character within the dressing room.
However, Matic revealed that Pogba was the funniest for a slightly different reason, as he said: “The funniest character in the dressing room is Paul. Paul always gets angry and it is funny to watch him. Erm, someone else… no, I will say Paul.”
Matic revealed that it was easy to get under Pogba’s skin, and when pressed on whether he likes to win up the Frenchman, he simply replied: “Yes.”
The Serbian midfielder even used the interview as an attempt to wind up Pogba as he took a swipe at the Frenchman’s fashion sense, revealing that he wasn’t a fan of his style.
Matic said: “I think sometimes he posts his style on social media and I think people saw why. I don’t want to get involved with it again. If he wants, he can post, okay, but I don’t like his style!”
United are running out of time to re-sign Pogba, with the Frenchman able to speak to new clubs in January about signing a pre-contract agreement ahead of next summer.
However, some clarity has finally been issued, with Pogba reportedly open to the idea of signing a new deal, if he is made the Premier League’s most paid player, ahead of teammate Ronaldo.
Ronaldo reportedly earns £385,000-a-week at United, and Pogba is targeting a weekly salary in excess of the amount paid to the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
This hands United with an ultimatum, as they either agree to the excessive demands that Pogba and his agent are pushing for, or they hold firm and let the player go if he refuses to reduce his wage requirements.
Pogba still regularly shows glimpses of the player that he can be, but re-signing the star could be a gamble, when the funds could be put towards a new signing that could revolutionise their midfield.
Pogba is into his sixth season at United during his second stint at the club, and if a radical change in performance was going to happen, it surely would have done by now.
At 28, the star still has time to make the most of his playing career, but Pogba is probably aware that he has one big contract remaining, and may not settle for less than he is looking for.
