Tottenham star Harry Kane may have played his final game for the club as he netted in Spurs’ 4-2 Premier League final day win away at Leicester City, at least if a social media post from his wife is anything to go by.
Kane’s goal at the King Power Stadium clinched the 2020/21 Premier League Golden Boot but he has already outlined his firm intention to leave Tottenham this summer.
The England captain has grown frustrated in north London and he has informed club chairman Daniel Levy he wants to be allowed to leave to compete for major trophies elsewhere.
Premier League rivals Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are rumoured to be tracking the 27-year-old’s exit situation and Kane’s wife has dropped a major hint that his departure is going ahead.
Kate Kane posted a video to her Instagram story showing her husband hugging team-mates, Heung-Min Son and Dele Alli, after the final whistle at Leicester.
The trio have been vital to Spurs in recent seasons, including their run to the 2019 Champions League final, and her post will heighten the growing speculation that Kane’s future has been decided.
She captioned her story with a crying emoji, suggesting the hug was just as emotional as it appeared.
Alongside clinching his third Premier League top scorer award at the King Power, Kane also picked up the leading assist gong for the campaign, with a final total of 23 goals and 14 assists in 35 league games in 2020/21.
Kane confirmed in an interview with former United defender Gary Neville that he wants to meet with Levy before the start of Euro 2020 to discuss his future.
The striker indicated there is a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ in place between himself and Levy to allow him to leave after City’s rumoured interest was rejected back in 2020.
Kane agreed to remain at Spurs for the 2020/21 campaign with the condition of the club not blocking his exit if they failed to win a trophy or qualify for the Champions League in 2021.
Despite winning on the final day, Kane’s exploits have added some positivity to an underwhelming campaign.
After sacking former boss Jose Mourinho in April, interim head coach Ryan Mason could only steer the club to a seventh place Premier League finish and a spot in the newly created Europa Conference League next season.
Kane will lead Gareth Southgate’s side in this summer’s European Championships after winning the Golden Boot at the 2018 World Cup in Russia with six goals.
