As Manchester United continuing to struggle in the aftermath of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sacking, the club could splash the cash in coming transfer windows ahead.
Several players have been linked with moves to Old Trafford, especially with the club needing reinforcements in the middle of the park.
And RB Leipzig and Aston Villa players Amadou Haidara and John McGinn have become the latest pair to emerge as potential targets.
Manchester United produced some of their best football under Rangnick in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Aston Villa at Villa Park.
Yet despite the Red Devils dominating for large periods, they were unable to hold on for all three points with Philippe Coutinho rescuing a point for the home side.
Once again for United, their midfield appeared to let them down.
Fred regressed as the match went on while Nemanja Matic showed why he’s on the wane with a torrid performance in the closing stages.
So, with the club being linked with Haidara and McGinn, According to Express Sport below is how the Red Devils would line up with the duo in their ranks.
Goalkeeper: De Gea
David De Gea has been back to his best this season.
At the start of the campaign, some believed he’d struggle to get into the team ahead of Dean Henderson – who started to replace him towards the tail end of last term.
Yet De Gea has started to resemble the goalkeeper he was during the eras of Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho.
He was brilliant against Villa on Saturday, keeping the home side out until Jacob Ramsey and Coutinho found the net.
Therefore, it’s no surprise Henderson is pondering a move away – though Rangnick wants the England international to stay for the time being.
Defence: Dalot, Varane, Lindelof, Telles
It may be a controversial call.
But Diogo Dalot and Alex Telles, while sometimes vulnerable at the back, offer far more than Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw at present.
Both players were regulars under Solskjaer but they’re shadows of the players they were, with the pair now no longer undroppable.
Likewise, Harry Maguire.
Maguire has been too inconsistent for far too long and Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof may actually be the better defensive pairing.
Midfield: Haidara, McGinn, Fernandes
United could use a 4-2-3-1 formation next season, especially with Mauricio Pochettino expected to take over as the club’s permanent manager.
And both Haidara and McGinn could act as sitters in the middle of the park.
That would mean the likes of Matic, Fred and Scott McTominay all having to accept time on the bench.
Haidara and McGinn could potentially arrive as replacements for Paul Pogba and Donny van de Beek, whose futures are both uncertain.
And that would give Bruno Fernandes more attacking license in the No 10 role.
Forwards: Greenwood, Ronaldo, Rashford
Marcus Rashford has had an underwhelming season so far, with the England international scoring just three goals.
But the Red Devils are hopeful he’ll come good, meaning there’s no chance he’ll be leaving Old Trafford any time soon.
Mason Greenwood remains the club’s big hope for the future, even if he’s another player whose form has left plenty to be desired.
So it’s feasible he’d get in on the right wing over Jadon Sancho, who has underwhelmed since his arrival from Borussia Dortmund.
