Manchester United have reportedly pulled out of the race for Erling Haaland as the striker has his heart set on a move to Real Madrid.
Several of Europe’s big hitters are vying for the Norwegian’s signature in the summer due to the forward’s meteoric rise at Borussia Dortmund.
It’s claimed Haaland will be available for around £62.7million due to a release clause in his current contract, something which appeals to a number of teams.United have been firmly in the hunt since day one as they look for a long-term solution for Edinson Cavani.
Old Trafford chiefs have been hoping that Ralf Rangnick’s relationship with Haaland at Salzburg could give them the edge, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
United are now not considering making an approach for the highly-rated striker.
Madrid are reportedly planning a double swoop for Haaland and Kylian Mbappe, who is set to leave Paris-Saint Germain as a free agent at the end of the season.
Rangnick praised Haaland’s talents last month but played down the possibility of him joining United.
