Manchester United have been linked with a double summer swoop – ahead of what could be a busy transfer window.
While it still remains somewhat unclear who will be leading the Red Devils into the 2022/23 season from the dugout, recruitment plans are beginning to form. And the latest reports have linked United with a pair of eye-catching deals once the summer window opens, while there has also been talk of a potential outgoing.
Manchester United eye international full-back
Algerian defender Ramy Bensebaini has been linked with a summer move to Manchester United.
The 26-year-old, who currently plays for Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga, is said to have ‘generated interest’ from Old Trafford in recent weeks.Spanish outlet Fichajes report that Inter Milan were previously interested in Bensebaini but, having signed Robin Gosens, are now out of the running.
That could benefit United if they are to pursue a summer move, with the left-back said to be valued at around £20million.
Bensebaini has registered five goals and two assists already this season and, with his contract set to expire in 2023, could be available for a move.
United currently have Luke Shaw and Alex Telles available as options at left-back.
In-demand midfielder linked with Old TraffordThe Red Devils are also said to be keen on a summer move for RB Leipzig midfielder Christopher Nkunku.
A number of Premier League sides are also thought to be keen on the 24-year-old – with ESPN stating that Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City are monitoring the French youth international ahead of the transfer window.
The report states that Ralf Rangnick has urged United to add Nkunku to their list of summer targets, with the German having been Leipzig’s director of football when the midfielder arrived in the Bundesliga from PSG.With Paul Pogba’s future remaining unclear as the end of his contract approaches, United could be in the market for midfield reinforcements – and Nkunku could fit the bill, with his versatility a useful attribute for any side.
He has netted 19 times in 31 appearances this season while registering 13 assists, and has also been linked with Real Madrid.Previous reports have suggest that a £35million price tag could be placed on Nkunku, whose contract at Leipzig runs until 2024.
The German side are naturally keen to retain his services, though.
A potential summer outgoing
Barcelona are reportedly keen on a summer move for striker Edinson Cavani.
The Uruguayan international sees his contract at Manchester United expire in the summer and is expected to leave Old Trafford.
