Manchester United have ‘full agreement’ with defender after chat his with manager

Manchester United have ‘full agreement’ with Raphael Varane over the contract he would be on at Old Trafford, according to reports from Spain.

Varane has returned to Real Madrid’s Valdebebas training ground and held talks with new manager Carlo Ancelotti on Friday. The Frenchman is United’s top defensive target this summer.

United finally confirmed the signing of Jadon Sancho on Friday.

The England winger has joined the Red Devils for a fee of £73million from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.

But United’s transfer business appears to be far from over as Varane edges closer to a move.

Varane has entered the final year of his contract at Real and has rejected all new proposals from the Bernabeu club.

United and Real are yet to agree the fee that will be paid for the 28-year-old.

However, Spanish outlet AS says there is an agreement over the player’s salary if he were to complete a move to Old Trafford.

AS says there has been an agreement for ‘several weeks’ between Varane and United.

That contradicts Sky Sports’ claims that personal terms are yet to be finalised.

Varane wanted to stay at Real but his wage demands have not been met by the La Liga giants.

AS says United are now in ‘official talks’ to get a deal for Varane over the line.

Meanwhile, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer penned a new three-year contract on Saturday.

The Norwegian is yet to win a trophy during his tenure but has received full backing from the club’s hierarchy.

Solskjaer was delighted to extend his stay at the club he spent over a decade at as a player.

And he hinted he would be continuing to look to improve his squad over the coming windows.

“Everyone knows the feeling I have for this club, and I am delighted to have signed this new contract,” he said.

“It is an exciting time for Manchester United, we have built a squad with a good balance of youth and experienced players that are hungry for success.

“I have a fantastic coaching team around me, and we are all ready to take that next step on our journey. Manchester United wants to be winning the biggest and best trophies and that’s what we are all striving for.

“We have improved, both on and off the pitch, and that will continue over the coming seasons.

“I can’t wait to get out in front of a packed Old Trafford and get this campaign started.”
