Manchester United ‘very close’ to another summer transfer deal

Manchester United winger Tahith Chong is nearing a deal to join Birmingham on loan for the 2021-22 campaign.

The 21-year-old has been out on loan in the past couple of years to Belgian outfit Club Brugge and German side Werder Bremen.

But it looks as though he will get his first taste of English football at a different club with Lee Bowyer’s Blues close to a temporary deal for next season, according to The Telegraph

Chong signed a new contract at United back in March 2020 following interest from Inter Milan.

At the time, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: ‘Tahith works extremely hard every day and he is constantly improving.

‘His performances this season, whether for the first team or Under-23s, are testament to his hard work, dedication and to his character.

‘We are pleased with the progress he has made since he stepped up from the Academy and are looking forward to continuing to develop his talent.

‘Tahith has great potential; given his age, ability and work-ethic, we can see that he has a bright future at Manchester United.’

He is a former Holland Under-21 international and has made 16 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils in and around his loan deals.
