Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood’s bail will expire on 30 April after his arrest on suspicion of rape, sexual assault and threats to kill.

The 20-year-old was taken into police custody in late January on suspicion of the rape and assault of a woman before officers were granted additional time to question him

He was subsequently further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed.

Three days after his initial arrest, Greenwood was released on bail and he remains the subject of an ongoing police investigation.

A GMP statement read: “A 20-year-old man arrested (on Sunday 30 January 2022) on suspicion of the rape and assault of a woman has been released on bail pending further investigation.”

Greenwood’s bail will expire on 30 April, GMP confirmed to Mirror Football, at which point it could be extended.

The United academy graduate, who has earned one England cap, has been suspended by the club and has not played since the Premier League fixture against West Ham on 22 January.

Elsewhere, Greenwood has been removed from popular football video game FIFA 22 by producers EA Sport and Cadbury, one of the Red Devils’ partners, have confirmed they will not use Greenwood as part of any marketing campaigns pending investigation.

They said in a statement: “Cadbury does not condone violence in any form. Our Partnership is with the club itself and not the individual players.

“However, while these allegations are being investigated, any marketing or products we create with Manchester United will not feature this player. We will continue to monitor the situation closely.”

United also reaffirmed their “strong condemnation” of violence after Greenwood was further arrested.

“We will not make any further comment until the facts have been established,” they said. “Manchester United does not condone violence of any kind.”

Meanwhile, GMP confirmed Greenwood’s accuser has been offered “specialist support”.

Greenwood made his senior debut for United in March 2019 and he has made a total of 129 appearances for the club, scoring 35 goals.

Casemiro is now in a massive dilemma. United’s offer is so succulent that it guarantees the midfielder and his family’s stability for ‘decades’.

On the other hand, by accepting such a contract, the Brazilian international will have to give up on immediate sporting glory.

Moving to Old Trafford would mean swapping Champions League for Europa League and it is a hard decision to make for someone who is currently a European Champion and has won the continent’s premier competition five times.

AS claim the situation must be resolved soon. If Casemiro gives the green light to leave, then Real Madrid would demand a fee of at least £68million (80 million euros) to sell him.
