Mauricio Pochettino sends Man United warning as Cristiano Ronaldo response issued

Mauricio Pochettino sent Manchester United message.

As United’s search for a permanent successor to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer continues, Mauricio Pochettino continues to be a man of interest for the role.

However, he endured a night to forget on Wednesday as his PSG side crashed out of the Champions League – and it didn’t go unnoticed.

The French giants looked to be well on course for a place in the quarter-finals after Kylian Mbappe put them 2-0 up on aggregate at the Santiago Bernabeu. The Frenchman had scored the winner in Paris last month to give Pochettino’s side what seemed an all-important advantage.

But they threw the tie away in spectacular fashion, with Karim Benzema scoring a hat-trick. The 34-year-old struck his first goal just after the hour mark to give Real some hope in the tie.

Cristiano Ronaldo responds to United rumours

United star Cristiano Ronaldo has addressed rumours over his absence from the matchday squad last Sunday during their defeat to Manchester City.

The 37-year-old has been back at Carrington over the last couple of days having missed the clash after picking up a hip flexor injury.

He made a trip back to Portugal once it had been confirmed he was ruled out of the derby, before returning to the UK on Monday. Ronaldo has since been pictured working separately from the main group as he looks to get back to full fitness.

Murmurs arose after his absence from the derby, with conspiracy theories on social media suggesting he wasn’t injured, despite Ralf Rangnick confirming otherwise.

Ronaldo now looks to have rubbished the suggestion that the decision to leave him out was a tactical one.
