Ralf Rangnick’s ‘plan’ for Cristiano Ronaldo as Man United players welcome new manager

Ralf Rangnick is set to become the next Manchester United manager.

The German coach will take charge until the end of the current season before taking up a consultancy position at Old Trafford and all eyes will now be on whether he can turn the ailing club’s fortunes around.

A key part of that will be down to how he deploys star man Cristiano Ronaldo, and his first words as Man United boss may be a hint at his plans for the Portuguese international.

United players have been reacting to Rangnick’s arrival at Old Trafford and could spark a U-turn for Paul Pogba with the Frenchman’s contract up at the end of the season.

Rangnick welcomed

United players have been busy welcoming the new manager to Old Trafford after his arrival was announced.

The first player to do so was Jesse Lingard, who took to Instagram to share his excitement at the new appointment.

Lingard has looked like he may be set to leave the club in the January transfer window with his contract up at the end of the season and no sign the midfielder will extend it.

It remains to be seen how the England international will be utilised under his new boss and whether he will ultimately end up stying at the club, however.

Cristiano Ronaldo ‘plan’

Ralf Rangnick’s first words as Manchester United boss may hint at his plans for star man Cristiano Ronaldo.

Rangnick revealed his excitement to be working at Man United after he was announced interim boss on Monday.

The German coach is known for his high-pressing football and there have been questions raised over whether 36-year-old Ronaldo will be able to cope with the physical demands of such a style.

But Rangnick has hinted he will use Ronaldo in his side going forward, which is sure to come as a relief to United fans.
