Jose Mourinho reportedly wants to take Manchester United star Edinson Cavani to Roma this summer, with an agreement supposedly in place.
Cavani impressed in his debut season at United and extended his stay at Old Trafford for another year.
The Red Devils have been linked with other attacking players in the summer transfer window, including striker Harry Kane.
Though Mourinho, who takes charge of Roma this summer, reportedly wants to sign the Uruguayan if Edin Dzeko leaves.
“If Dzeko goes away, Cavani arrives,” Damiano ‘Er Faina’ Coccia told Calcio Mercato.
“The problem isn’t Dzeko, who wants to leave, but that there’s no team that wants to take the Bosnian.
“There was a Juventus poll but they are unwilling to give them what they ask for.”
And he added that there is already the potential for a deal, saying: “Tiago Pinto is strongly probing Cavani, in principle there’s a basic agreement between the club and the player.
“The problem is that Cavani isn’t expiring and it will be necessary to give United compensation.”
Upon signing his extension, Cavani said: “Over the season, I have developed a great affection for the club and everything that it represents.
“I feel a deep bond with my team-mates and the staff who work behind the scenes here. They give me extra motivation every day and I know that, together, we can achieve special things.
“From the very first moment that I arrived, I felt the confidence of the manager. As a player, this belief gives you the perfect opportunity to play your best football and I want to thank him for that.
“I have been touched with how much the supporters have wanted me to stay, and I will give everything to bring them happiness and joy with my performances on the field.
“I’ve not yet been able to play in front of the Old Trafford crowd and that is something that I cannot wait to do.”
