Gary Neville has slammed Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard following their unimpressive cameos off the bench in the defeat to Manchester City.
Despite Manchester United being without Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani for the derby, Rashford was named among the subs on Sunday afternoon.
With United 2-1 down, Ralf Rangnick introduced Rashford and Lingard after 64 minutes.
Four minutes later City scored a third and dominated United for the final 20 minutes of the match with Riyad Mahrez scoring again during injury time.
Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes took up advanced positions as Rangnick experimented with a different formation at the Etihad.
And while Neville was not won over with the system, he says the two provided more than Rashford and Lingard did off the bench.
‘I thought they were better with Pogba and Fernandes up front than they were when Rashford came on,’ Neville told Sky Sports.
‘I thought they were even worse when Rashford and Lingard came on. I thought they were terrible.’
Neville continued: ‘What I would say is when he changed it to a more traditional system and brought Rashford on put Lingard out on the right and Sancho to the left, that was worse.’
Despite Anthony Martial being out on loan at Sevilla and Mason Greenwood suspended, Rashford remains low down the pecking order this season.
‘That’s got to be the ultimate put down for Marcus Rashford today,’ Neville said.
‘With four other centre forwards he started the season with not here and he still can’t get into the side.
‘It tells you where Rashford is at, where Rangnick thinks he is at.’
