Thiago Silva has dropped a hint on social media that he could be set to start Chelsea’s clash with Watford this evening.
The Blues will be determined to return to winning ways after being forced to share the points against Manchester United at the weekend at Stamford Bridge.
Liverpool and Manchester City both gained two points on Chelsea as the title race begins to heat up in the Premier League.
All three teams are in action tonight, with Chelsea well aware that they need to beat a newly-promoted Watford side, who are now managed by former Blues boss Claudio Ranieri.
Now, with a few hours until the line-ups get announced to the public, Silva has dropped a possible hint on his Instagram page, where he posted a graphic of the match with a countdown to kick-off.
The Brazilian defender, who has been in sublime form for Chelsea this season, did the same thing ahead of the clash with Man United at the weekend – and he did indeed start.
Silva could be set to start, and it would be no surprise given his importance to the side, but one defender who does not look like he is going to play is Andreas Christensen.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, Thomas Tuchel spoke about Christensen and his contract situation and revealed that is the reason the Chelsea defender has not been playing recently.
The Denmark international sees his contract with the Blues expire at the end of the season and it seems the two parties are no closer to reaching an agreement.
“I have no good news. It was my understanding weeks ago that Andreas wants the same as me and the club. This is why, for me, it was a zero-problem situation because everybody wanted the same as I understood it,” Tuchel said on Christensen.
“We are waiting a long time now for confirmation. It’s on Andreas to act how he acts on the pitch off the pitch and walk the talk.
“He tells us he loves Chelsea, that he wants to stay and be a big part, because he is a big part of a big club. I think he is the perfect fit, he is not done yet here, his career here is not finished.
“He can still develop and be a big, big player. But like I said it’s on him. We want the commitment. Hopefully, we get it.”
So, it looks as if Silva might be starting for Chelsea tonight – with Trevoh Chalobah and Antonio Rudiger also expected to be picked.
