Thomas Tuchel provide fresh Kante and Pulisic update ahead Chelsea clash with Zenith St Petersburg

Chelsea European journey this campaign begins at home with a clash vs Russian outfit, Zenit saint Petersburg.

Along with Zenit, Chelsea have been drawn in Group H alongside Juventus and Malmo – a very winnable group for the Londoners.

Ahead of Tuesday’s game, Thomas Tuchel would speak to the media on Monday afternoon.

The German discussed a number of topics in his press conference, including injury news.

N’Golo Kante and Christian Pulisic both missed Chelsea’s win over Aston Villa at the weekend through injury.

And when speaking pre-Zenit, Tuchel confirmed that the game would come too soon for both players, though Kante has begun to train once again:

“Christian did not train with us. N’Golo had two sessions yesterday and today but CL game comes too early for him.”

2020/21 was of course a historic season for Chelsea, who secured only their second-ever Champions League trophy by seeing off Manchester City in the final.

And, with the additions of Romelu Lukaku and Saul Niguez to an already stacked squad, Chelsea fans are no doubt once again expecting Thomas Tuchel to guide their side to the latter stages of the competition.
