Transfer news: Arsenal now have learned they have chance to sign ‘extraordinary’ £60m Brazilian star this summer

Arsenal are amongst the clubs to have been made aware of the availability of Diego Carlos, with 90min reporting that Sevilla are open to negotiating the centre-back’s departure during the summer transfer window.

The Gunners are heading into what looks set to be a massive window. Mikel Arteta has clearly got the foundations in place for a really special group of players. But they now need to make the signings that will help take the side to the next level.

The supporters may want proven additions now that they have such a strong group of youngsters. And perhaps one player they will consider is Carlos.

90min reports that Carlos has been offered to a number of Premier League sides. Newcastle attempted to sign the 29-year-old during the January transfer window. And he was keen on the move, telling Sevilla that he wanted to join the Magpies.

Sevilla wanted his release clause of over £60 million to be triggered in the winter. Now however, they are prepared to discuss letting him go with time to replace him.

And 90min suggests that Arsenal are amongst the clubs aware of his availability. The likes of Tottenham, West Ham and Aston Villa are also in the mix. Newcastle remain admirers.

Arsenal aware of Diego Carlos’ availability

Centre-back does not appear to be a priority for Arsenal this summer. The partnership between Ben White and Gabriel Magalhaes looks to have enormous potential. And William Saliba may well be in the fold next year.

Arsenal’s stance may have to change if Gabriel leaves. There has been speculation that Juventus want the Brazilian.

In that instance, Carlos may come onto their radar. He has been labelled an ‘extraordinary‘ player. And he has tended to play on the left alongside Jules Kounde in La Liga.

But Arsenal have bigger issues to address. So perhaps it should come as no surprise if Carlos is not considered a major target at this stage.
