Marcus Rashford’s dramatic stoppage-time winner against West Ham United has been named Manchester United’s Goal of the Month for January.
Rashford was on hand at the back post to tap home Edinson Cavani’s cross, with just seconds left of what had been until then a frustrating afternoon for Ralf Rangnick’s Reds.
The finish itself may not have been eye-catching or era-defining, but the scenes it sparked inside a buoyant Old Trafford will stick in the mind and have helped Marcus to claim the award, voted for by fans.
Marcus finished just one percentage point clear of team-mate Bruno Fernandes, who was nominated for the second goal of his brace against Aston Villa at Villa Park.
Anthony Elanga (v Brentford) and Scott McTominay (v Aston Villa) were also popular choices but the sheer drama of Rashford’s strike stuck in the mind for many.
It was Marcus’s fourth injury-time Premier League winner, which is both a league and a United record.
