‘Yesterday’s result was tough’: Ronaldo breaks silence as Portugal miss automatic World Cup qualification
Taking to Instagram to express his feelings after Portugal’s 1-2 loss to Serbia, Cristiano Ronaldo wrote: “Football has shown us time and again that sometimes it’s the winning road that lead us to the most desired wrecks.
“Yesterday’s result was tough, but not enough to bring us down. The goal of attending the World Cup 2022 is still very much alive and we know what we have to do to get there.
“No excuses. Portugal bound for Qatar.”
Portugal have failed to secure automatic qualification for the Qatar World Cup and will have to play the play-offs qualifiers in March.
They’re yet to discover their opponents for those games, but Ronaldo will be desperate to win the play-offs to keep his dream of lifting a World Cup trophy alive.
