Zinedine Zidane ‘warming up’ to managing Man United — but there is a catch
According to Duncan Castles, Zinedine Zidane is ‘warming up’ to the idea of replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United but his wife Veronique could be a stumbling block.
Veronique doesn’t want to live in Manchester and would like her husband to take a longer break after a successful reign over two spells with Real Madrid.
United are claimed to have ‘made progress’, however, and this aligns with a report from Spanish journalist Pedro Almedia. Cited by the MEN, he’s claimed that the club have begun talks with Zidane.
He adds that the Frenchman’s preference remains to manage his national team.
Castles’ report further claims that the Red Devils are hopeful the presence of Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane will change Zidane’s mind.
Besides Zidane, Brendan Rodgers is also tipped to be a strong candidate.
